About CMA Meetings & Recovery Groups

Many times people feel that their experiences are unique to them. When people first begin to notice that their meth using is starting to have some negative effects on their lives, they will try to either control their use (for example, "just on weekends"), or even totally stop using on their own.

Sometimes this kind of approach will work, at least for a while, then expectedly meth use returns to its prior levels. And then, sometimes their using will even progress to higher levels than before. This results in even greater problems being created. Multiple attempts to go it alone in this way often result in an equal number of failures. So many times addicts that want to get and stay clean often find out that support from other people in the same situation is an important part of recovery from drug addiction.

Group support in recovery from meth addiction is equally or more important for gay men and lesbians.The frequent distance from families, institutional religions, and avoiding professional help can all make getting help for addiction to meth even more difficult..

Recovery groups for addicts often follow a program of clean living based on the "Twelve Steps". These CMA meetings may be in instead of or in addition to follow-up to an addiction rehab / treatment program.
